What’s In a Name??

Over a decade ago, I was working as both a piano and voice instructor, AND a photographer, and I needed to find a name that would tie the disciplines together. I came up with Sweet Sparrow Studios, because the sparrow was a songbird, and if I’m totally honest, the nature theme was big when we were all naming our small businesses haha! Eventually, both branches of my business grew to a point that it was unsustainable to continue on in both professions and I moved to full time photography. Even though I have felt that some of my work doesn’t embody a “Sweet Sparrow” cutesy vibe (especially my headshot work and group photography, not to mention the fine art direction I have been going towards recently), I was hesitant to rebrand. It just seemed like a bunch of work for no real reason. Well, that reason is here now in a BIG way. In switching over to a luxury brand with amazing, sleek, high end products, there was no way my old name was going to be a good fit moving forward. So, I am THRILLED for the relaunch of my photography brand as Katie Horst Photography. I can’t wait to share more in the future!
